After James Stewart's convincing first place finish in Toronto, Kawasaki Racing Team is already preparing for another top performance at the Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP in Vancouver this weekend. "We can't let up even the slightest bit," said Kawasaki Racing Team Manager Mike Fisher. "Everybody on the team is working hard to prepare for next Saturday, the results we saw in Toronto have definitely boosted everyone's confidence, and we want that enthusiasm to continue."
Taking what they learned in Toronto and applying it for the rest of the season is something key for the team's success in 2006. Fisher believes learning something each week is essential for Kawasaki Racing Team's progression in today's world of intense competition.
"We are not trying to set a goal of just winning races for this year, instead we're trying to set goals of learning something everyday and learning faster than the rest of our competition," Fisher explained. "We think we've done that, and we think the performance of the KX450F will help us align our new focus towards winning more races."
As one of Kawasaki's research and development specialists Fisher played an integral role in the development of the KX450F, and is familiar with its design and performance. This partnership of research/development, coupled with team management may prove to be the perfect marriage for the 2006 Supercross/Motocross season.
"What many don't realize is that Kawasaki prides itself on producing quality products for the consumer, and our race bikes are not much different from the showroom versions. For example, Stewart's KX450F utilized a stock frame, swing arm and rear suspension linkage in Toronto," explained Fisher. "Our riders are not going faster because they are racing something completely different, they are going faster because we are learning faster and making improvements at the same time. In short, if we can learn something each week at the races, it will eventually translate into success for our customers and dealers."
The next round of the Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP kicks off on December 10, at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver B.C. SPEED Channel will air the race on Sunday, December 11 at 6:00 p.m. EST.
